April Update!

Our 2024-2025 UTA Leader Team!!!

We have five more weeks to go!
March flew by. Did it for you?

This past month was jam packed with small groups, people getting discipled and many students making decisions to follow Jesus more closely. This is the time of year where the rubber meets the road for many students. There's just something in the air. People know they have little time left before summer. It's the perfect time to encourage someone, or challenge them. I know for myself and all my other pastors, we are in the thick of those conversations. Be praying that students make decisions that will help them walk more closely with Christ. Pray that the summer won't rob these students of what they've learned this year in ministry.

I want to start by saying thank you for supporting me in campus missions. I wanted to share a big life update with you all. At the end of May, I’ll be transitioning off FOCUS staff. This decision has come after a lot of prayer and thoughtful conversations about what’s best for our little family in this season. It certainly wasn’t easy—college ministry has been such a joy and honor these past seven years. I can't believe it has been that long. I have loved getting to walk alongside students as they grow in their faith, ask big questions, and discover more of who God is. What a gift it has been!

I’m deeply thankful for your support over the years—your prayers, encouragement, and financial partnership have made it possible for me to say “yes” to the call God placed on my heart. I truly couldn’t have done this without you, and I’ll never stop being grateful for how you’ve been part of the story. You have been a special part of this ministry. Thank you for being my co-laborer.

As I step away from FOCUS staff, Graham and I are trusting God with what’s next. One of the big things ahead is continuing to support-raise by helping my husband Graham. The big need is for my cost in insurance, so I can be fully present with baby. I’ll be reaching out in the coming weeks to ask—boldly and humbly—if you’d consider continuing your generosity by partnering with his ministry. Graham is working full time at UTA as one of the men's pastors. I know he is my husband, but I am amazed at his commitment and love for Christ and the men he is discipling.

Thank you again for believing in me and in this ministry. I carry so many sweet memories from these years, and I know God’s not done writing the story. My update next month will be one where I will reminisce with you. Please pray if joining Graham's team is something you are interested in. Thank you so much.

Photos from the Month:

Above are some students doing some outreach on campus around lunch time.

This is a photo from Pizza Theology this year where all our campuses got together to explore what scripture says about money.

A glimpse of our worship service.

Above is a goofy photo. We invited students over to play a game called Bristol. It's a lying game where you try to avoid catching the plague. Two of our guys dressed up for the occasion. We played by candle light. I love getting to create a space for memories.

August 2023: Is Bucee Going to FOCUS?

Greetings from Buc-ee's Above is a photo from Buc-ee's on the fourth of July. We got to met the celebrity beaver while visiting my family.  For any of my out of state friends, Buc-ee's is a huge gas station and this beaver is their face and mascot. I just had to get a photo of these two with him.  Here's a photo from our church's dog event. The guy above's name is Mauricio. The dog he is holding is his. We had a good laugh that his beloved dog was a pampered shih Tzu. He and Graham have become great friends over the year. He will be leading in the fall. Pray for our men's side of the ministry. What happens every four years or so is that many of our people graduate. We are coming into this year with fewer men leaders. Pray for them to have courage and boldness to reach out on campus to their classmates, friends and whoever. I'm hopeful with guys like Mauricio that we will meet the people God wants us to this year.  Ministry-wise, we have begun the prepara...

August Update!

This update is full of prayer requests and news! Let’s get started.  I just got back from our summer staff retreat with our entire staff team. One of the key parts I want to underline is: we have not had our entire staff together on a retreat since my apprentice year. Our staff has boomed in size because we are taking on nineteen apprentices this year. Nineteen. It’s exciting to experience a surge of new people and to see our team grow. I had a strange moment during the retreat where I realized some of these apprentices were students when I started back in 2018. Now, I get to partner with them in reaching our campuses this fall. I guess that’s what happens the longer you work at a place.  One of the most exciting updates I have is that we will be pioneering five new campuses this fall. Each team is focusing on a different campus. One thing that has blown me away during my time in FOCUS is how the Lord has worked on community college campuses. I remember visiting a Colli...

February Update!

Hello again! It’s time for an update. This month is packed with ministry goodness; let’s hop in.  January is all about our annual winter camp and school starting. I thought this month would be a little slow due to school being online for the first three weeks. Thankfully, I was wrong. Many of our students were in town despite the virtual schooling, we have been able to have our meeting in person on campus. This has created energy! With classes being online, our staff decided it would be a great idea to start the semester with an evangelism sermon series. We are wanting our students to grow in seeing their classroom as their mission field. Graham actually got to preach one of the messages! He casted a vision for us having the opportunity to bring little pockets of heaven to our world now. The idea is that we know Jesus and how he brings life. We have been given the same mission to bring life to our spheres. Pray that as classes go back in person our students will be bold! I f...
